How to test and troubleshoot my internet connection?

Modified on Mon, 13 Jan at 3:11 PM

Running a speed test determines whether you have the correct bandwidth to stream On Air’s shows at their best. We recommend running one (or both) of the following sites to check your internet speed:

The minimum speed recommendations for HD and 4K UHD qualities can be found here.

If you’re experiencing a slow internet connection, try these methods:

  • Switching from a wireless connection to a wired connection. Please note that in densely populated areas, Wi-Fi interference may cause low throughput

  • If required, consider upgrading your Wi-Fi to support the latest standards

  • If your bandwidth is below the required minimum speed, please contact your internet service provider

Please note:

Using an internet connection below the minimum speed recommendations could result in buffering or a low-quality viewing experience.

Avoid streaming over a 3G or 4G mobile* network connection—throughput might suddenly drop below our required minimum speed while on the move! However, 5G should be fine in this instance.

Where possible, connect to a reliable connection like a wired home router. Using mobile data can result in unstable quality and high data usage.
